ED’s Message

A message to our guests about COVID-19 coronavirus

Dear Friend of the Center for Architecture + Design,

As news of the coronavirus and the rapidly changing status of outbreaks in the Bay Area and beyond leads to increasing action by both public health officials and private businesses, I wanted to share with you the steps the Center for Architecture + Design is taking to protect the health of our guests and staff while continuing to offer the best guest experience we can. Thank you for your partnership and flexibility as we all navigate this health challenge together.

Encouraging the sick to stay home
Following the advice of public health officials, we ask that any guest or employee experiencing flu-like symptoms stay home and recover.

Accepting cancellations & Rescheduling meetings
If health concerns prevent you from attending an event for which you have already registered, the Center has extended our no-penalty cancellation policy for late cancellations.

Assessing event and facilities standards
We are working with vendors, caterers, and our partners to enhance safety. At the Center, we are taking extra care to clean surfaces. The Center and the Hallidie Building are being extra vigilant on cleaning surfaces, wiping down entry doors and elevator buttons periodically and the janitors using a commercial-grade disinfectant on all doorknobs, handles and buttons daily. We ask our guests to do their part by washing hands often.

Supporting local businesses
While the news of California’s State of Emergency and the spread of the COVID-19 is concerning, we are also considering the potential impact on guests, venues and caterers, and particularly small local businesses and community partners. The following Center for Disease Control resources may be helpful for businesses and employers:

We will continue to monitor the situation and may evolve our response as circumstance requires. Thank you to all those who have expressed your concerns and to everyone in these times.
Sincerely,

Stacy Williams
