Julie Satterwhite

Chief Marketing Officer
PAE

I am working on sharing the remarkable news about PAE’s numerous highly sustainable projects, including our recently opened PAE Living Building in Portland, Oregon. Our project is the first developer-driven building of its kind and the certification is the world’s most rigorous proven performance standard. Among the most notable requirements include the building must generate all of its own energy and capture and treat all of its water onsite. We hope to get the message out so that more investors, owners, developers, and architects will commit to Living Buildings as the standard to impact our environment in regenerative ways.

For me, it comes down to the people. There have been so many influential professional people in my life who have inspired me. If I had to choose someone today, it would be my boss and President of PAE, Paul Schwer. A self-appointed energy geek, he is a genuine leader of one of the finest engineering firms. He is also an eternal optimist about how the work we do and how regeneration can end the climate crisis. Paul’s outlook for the future of our planet, and the vision he has set forth for our firm to help solve the planet’s energy and water challenges through high performing building design, inspires me daily.

My firm, PAE, provided pro bono mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design services for the project. To aid in the design, particularly with how building systems can positively impact the environment through energy and water, the team developed criteria to guide design-build contractors in plans for, and ultimately constructing, the project.

I’m excited for San Francisco to have a unique home that encourages people to gather, learn, and collaborate in celebration of great architecture and design.

In 10 years, the Center will have expanded to new heights (and maybe even added physical building heights expanding up a few new floors in the Halladie Building). I envision the Center will be a must see destination for visitors from around the world.

I will continue to connect with women to help them realize their strengths and leadership potential.

What else would you like to share with us?
At PAE, we are guided by our vision to help solve the planet’s energy and water challenges. At our core, we value our people, our planet, and regenerative engineering. From achieving JUST and B-Corp certifications, annually recommitting to our respect for each other, inspiring young engineers, and giving back to the community, everything we do is in service of our values and mission.

As PAE’s Chief Marketing Officer, Julie is passionate about bringing clients the message of PAE’s remarkable people who seek to help solve the world’s energy and water challenges through high performing building design. Julie helps to strengthen relationships with clients and industry partners while working with principals and project managers to help them achieve their business development goals. With over two decades of experience, she leads with emotional intelligence and acts as a catalyst for her team to do the same. Julie spearheads the Women in Leadership committee at PAE, which seeks to create pathways toward leadership for the women of the firm.
